Definite inspiration was being drawn from from Ralph Lauren's tux and tails Spring 08 collection and some of the edgier items had an almost Rag & Bone feel. Everything had a distinct personality - you've got the black fur (hopefully faux) jacket that looks like its been pulled out of Kate Moss' closet, all manner of almost Chrissy Hynde-esque little blazers and ties and of course the right amount of shine. More than wanting exact pieces I found myself getting a inspiration from the elements within the show itself - especially those great sequined accents.

Ok I totally fibbed - I need that sequined blazer in my life. How do you like this collection - love it, hate it, need something in your closet this minute? View the full collection at Style.it

I think this is the least appealing collection Elena Miro has created yet. It's just career wear, and not even attractive career wear. What's the point of having a runway show for this kind of clothing? It looks deadly dull. For decades, career wear was all that was ever produced for full-figure women, and this show just confirms that stereotype -- that full-figure women have no social lives and only dress up for business.
More disappointing for me, though, was the very small size of the models. Not a one of them actually looks plus. Elena Miro keeps copping out and sending down the same thin-looking girls every show. They always play it safe, never change. I'm waiting for them to do something really daring and actually feature a plus-looking model or two, someone who might ruffle the feathers of the fashion writers.
Ok, I absolutely need that entire purple outfit, the sequinned blazer and the black suit with the white shirt. Want!

i'm just so glad to see a fashion-forward plus-size design house in existence i almost don't even care about some of the lower notes in the collection.
I don't find this super career wear, but I like to wear these kinds of pieces (maybe not all at once). That being said, love the silver vest-top and the whole cracked-gold blazer ensemble, though perhaps with less, ah, shiny pants.
Being a career girl - WANT! WANT! WANT! No complaints here. Wish I had the budget.
So much of this is hideously unflattering. There are pieces that even hit the models in the wrong places!!
I find the show a bit costumey - like you have to get into an attitude to pull some of it off - but then it's Milan and that's how Italian women dress I 'spose. Showing plus lines without bras though? Hmm. That's a worry, and no doubt why they are casting size 10 B cups for it!
I thought the three piece suits completely unimaginative - could've put them on girls with curves to make them a bit more appealing. The angora/mohair knits shown over the long sleeve shirts don't look good even on these smaller sizes. Loved the purple split neck sweater and taffeta pants on Philippa Allam though!
Maybe i've been in a cave or something but um half of these women don't look anywhere NEAR plus size. Am i crazy or something?
having said that:
um, i need that silver vest and I need it now.
p.s. love yer blog:)
Hello. This post is likeable, and your blog is very interesting, congratulations :-). I will add in my blogroll =). If possible gives a last there on my blog, it is about the Projetores, I hope you enjoy. The address is http://projetor-brasil.blogspot.com. A hug.
Love it all!
Some of this stuff is ugly - I think the mohair looks really cheap but some of the stuff looks fierce like the purple fur.
Where can you find Elena Miro in the US?
It's not available in the US - the closest store is in Toronto Canada, according to the EM website.

I dont like it.
Its way too officey for me. Everything looks "smart" and i guess thats just not my aesthetic. theres peices that could work great if dressed down like the last looks gloves, the sequin blazer, the wide leg trousers, but the styling isnt very good this season.
I like some of it, and I'm generally not a masculin-feminin type of dresser although I'm endlessly weary of excessive boho things in the plus market.
My aesthetic, if I could describe it, is more "ladies who lunch."
Of these pieces, I'm loving the sequined skirt in particular.
I like it. Yes its a bit career ware but its also following the soft and masculine tailoring trend. I completely agree re the frou frou and it is much nicer to see some harder edge stuff. There looks like there are a couple of great pairs of wide and narrow leg trousers, avoiding the shiny satin obviously. There also looks to be a couple of great dresses (the black one with the tulip shaped skirt) and suits. I love the blazers, especially the sequin one. I bought a black satin tuxedo style blazer from Marina Rinaldi a few months ago and I have worn it to death, mainly with skinny jeans and a great Beth Ditto t shirt from GAP. This collection is the same I think you could take some pieces and really make them look great with other stuff. Good quality, well fitting trousers, thats enough for me. That and proper skinny jeans. I have quite slim legs and getting good ones is hard. Does anyone know who does them fairly skinny.
This site is great. Its the first time I have left a comment. I did go on a couple of the other plus size forums but I couldnt hack it. I love fashion and I wanted to talk to other bigger women about it, On those sites there seemed to be no passion for clothes and fashion and it was just people chatting each other up on line. This is much better. Great blazer in Evans at the moment too, very Chanel with a contrast white trim on the lapel and bottom and a good fit. Linen, but well you cant have it all can you.
I'd like to see some of this filter down into the department stores and LB-type places. I'm so, so tired of flowers, ruffles, fake gems, and loud 70s prints. I'd love to balance things out with a nice classy gray vest (and fitted things! for curvy women! imagine that!). So I like this collection.
Love.
Vest. Pants.
If I could afford it, I'd wear the glittery jacket and skirt together to some black tie thing.
Just to piss people off.
(Also 'cause my skin is warm tone.)
Just LOVE.
P.S. Didn't I see that Leelee's Boutique carried some pieces? Or are they still not available stateside?
